If you are interested in starting a towing business the first thing you will need to obtain is a license. Receiving a start up towing business license can take some time because they are carefully regulated.  Starting a towing business can cost several thousand dollars so you will need help from investors or a loan from the bank. An important thing to consider is your location.  You need to see how much competition you have. Check and see how many other towing companies you have in the area.  You can check their prices and their response time so you can provide a better service.

Once you have established the financial backing you need to start you towing company and you have been approved for the license you need to be an official towing business you will need to communicate with your local businesses and neighbors.  Advertise regularly in the yellow pages and in the newspaper. You can also ask if you can put your flyers up in local businesses in the area. If you check in the grocery store in your neighborhood they usually have bulletins boards for companies to advertise on.

There are businesses that use towing companies regularly in order to get rid of unregistered cars on their property.  Another business that uses towing companies frequently is Night Clubs and large parking lots.  If you can provide a better price and service they may consider changing from the company they are working with.  Another way to gain more business is to offer coupons and savings benefits for frequent customers.
