When you go into starting a photography business make sure you have the proper equipment.  If you have a good eye you can definitely become successful.  You will need to show your potential customer your experience and skills so make sure you have a solid portfolio with your best work.  You can start out by taking pictures of your family and friends using a backdrop or by using outdoor scenery.

Make sure that all your photos are clear and crisp so that it gives the impression of high quality work.  Once you have obtained a portfolio you should look into taking some night courses while you are in the process of building your clientele. This way you can build your resume and be up to date with the latest information to improve your skills.

Sit down with a business planner.  A simple consultation can lead you in the right direction of where you need to be.  The consultation will also help you to see what you need to plan for in the future.  Advertising your work online is another great resource.  If you can do promo work for businesses in the area this would greatly improve your business.  You will have the extra experience and a company to add to your resume.  If there are events going on in your neighborhood make sure you are there to photograph them.  When you’re finished developing the photos you can take them to your local news paper and they may actually buy the shots from you and give you some exposure for your company.
