Starting A Catering Business

When starting a catering business you should start small so you can build your clientele.  Most people who start a catering company start it within their home first. This way you can avoid paying for any extra expenses, and you can spend more money developing your merchandise.  You can also make a catering business fun by crafting cute impressions into your cookies or other desserts.  If you have children you can talk to the school to see if you can put together a small bake sale during an event they are having.

This way you can gain some exposure with the teachers and other employees in the office.  Other students may also tell their parents about your sweet desserts and ask if you could cater their birthday party.  Offer specials for events and parties so you can let people know that you have reasonable prices.  Another thing to include is your ingredients. You want to be sure that you’re not including anything that someone is allergic to.  Have everything clearly displayed on your packaging for the customer’s convenience. This way you can avoid problems in the future.

Advertising is another important part of any business. The more people that know about you the more likely you are to increase your clientele.  Have business cards with cute attractive pictures on them, and make your colors bright and attractive.  You need to draw positive attention to your business in every way possible. You should take advantage of every opportunity you have to display your catering expertise.  If you have a good product the community will take notice.
