Better Business Bureau Arizona

As most consumers in the present day know, the Better Business Bureau is a member-funded organization that provides standards of business practices and grants membership to businesses that comply with these standards.  The BBB also provides information to consumers about scams and acts as a mediating body between consumers and businesses when necessary.

The Better Business Bureau Arizona has branches in Southern Arizona, the greater Arizona area, and the Phoenix area.

The Better Business Bureau of the greater Arizona area which includes Central, Northern, and Western Arizona has a very large Board of Directors.  It has an average number of officers (President, Secretary, Treasurer, etc.), but also includes 28 Director positions.  One thing that is special about the BBB of the greater Arizona area is that it has developed a non-profit Central Arizona Foundation that provides written materials, visual aids, speakers, and television and radio materials to alert consumers about ethical business standards.

The BBB in Southern Arizona was started in 1952 in order to protect consumers from scams, especially one that targeted G.I.’s just out of WWII by falsely advertising the newly developed television.  Currently, this BBB has accredited about 2,300 businesses in the area.  The structure of the Board of Directors for the Southern Arizona BBB is fairly average is size and organization.  This BBB services Pima, Cochise, Santa Cruz, Graham, and Greenlee counties, and interestingly also represents Sonora, Mexico.

The BBB in Arizona works to promote the same ethics and ideas set forth by the national organization.
